1875 GATESHEAD WORKS EXPRESS PASSENGER ENGINE
Built at the Gateshead Works
of the N.E.R. to the design
of the late Edward Fletcher
in 1875, this express passen-
ger engine is of the class that -
worked the principal trains
between Newcastle and Edin-
burgh and atlso Edinburgh
and York. This engine took
part in the Newark Brake
Trials of 1875 and also took
part in the Jubilee of the
Stockton and Darlington Rail-
way in the same year as well
as the Centenary Celebrations
in the July of 1925.
